It’s About The Gown! The Wedding Gown!

5 Aug

If you are a bride-to-be looking for a gown or a woman who is thinking about IT!  Hmmm! If I was a bride – what would be the wedding gown that I would wear?

Why am I thinking about a gown? 😉

Maybe it’s the two weddings that I have attended  in the last two weeks – which probably has me thinking about matrimony <violins are now playing in the background, while I’m typing this>!

However, like every woman who perhaps wants to be married or a mother who wants their daughter to be married …wonders!  Yes, you do wonder about the gown, thee one you would wear!

So you know, I already  have one picked out!  I have fallen in love…LOVE, LOVE, LOVE with this Vera Wang GOWN!  It was delicately tucked in my TO DO folder.  I took it out tonight, to share!

Even if it was not a wedding gown, I would love it as an evening gown.   However, I am going to stick with the wedding cloud!   How about you, do you have a dream wedding gown?

The wedding gown is named, Holly.  A mermaid gown with piked and pin tucked drop-waist corset, with volumes of  layered organza petals with floating sprig embroidery!  Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!

What are They Talking About? Horse Hair for My Dress?

18 Aug

Received an e-mail from Debbie of Framingham, MA asking:

“Someone told me to get horse hair for my dress, where do I get it and how do I use it; what are they talking about?”

Now there’s the hem found on many wedding gowns; which has been sewned with a horse hair braid. The braid is not actually made from horse hair, but is a just synthetic nylon or plastic braiding.  The horse hair braiding can be purchased in a variety of widths and is typically between 1″ or 2″.

It is used to create a slightly stiff hemline, adding shape and movement to the skirt. Many wedding gowns use a horse hair braid hem to keep the long train of the gown in the proper shape and allows you to move more easily in the dress.

Basically, allowing your train not to feel like your pulling another person!  You can go to any Sewing and Notions store; like a JoAnn’s and they should sell it by the yardage ($2-3 per yard).  Many couture gowns also have this; it’s essential – similar to boning in a dress to keep its form.

Now there’s a horsehair braid sash!   This sash can be used to change the dynamic of a wedding dress, cocktail dress or even add pizzazz to an old dress; making it just like new.  We have to be creative, you know!

The picture shows  a 120′” sash that will create magic.  It’s by Vera Wang®  found at David’s Bridal.  Available in the colors of black and cream for $58.00     It’ has some stiffness to it, so we creating your look, it will stay in place!

See you thought that you would have to go to great extremes to get some horse hair!  NOT!  I hope this helps!   Good Luck!  😉

And Pssst…Vera Wang is designing Kim Kardashian’s wedding gown too!

E!’s controversial reality show where brides-to-be competed in challenges to earn plastic-surgery procedures in the last quest to win their makeover dream wedding.  It was down to the last two brides-to-be, who fought to the bitter end!  Allyson from Crestwood, Illinois won!  It was not all fun and games, she had the following surgeries:

  • brow lift
  • liposuction of chin
  • liposuction of jowls

I know reading it,  is very, very uncomfortable to put it lightly!  But she’s happy!!!!!   She got the wedding a girl could dream of!!  Love the decor…feathers makes anyone feel better!!!   Congratulations to the bride and groom, Allyson & John Donovan.

She looks absolutely beautiful!  Tell me, ladies if you had the opportunity would you think about doing it? And guys, what your take?  Just curious about it… Bridalplasty!  Wedding Surprise for Who?
