Rihanna Frenzy! RiRi MAC Collection Line and Styled to Rock Series on Bravo!

23 Oct

A MAC frenzy, completely sold out in NYC!  I tried my best to get my daughter the limited edition RiRi Woo lipstick from the RiRi Hearts MAC Fall Collection!  I tried, I really tried.

Even in the airport where MAC is being  sold in the duty-free area….NO LUCK! They had SOLD OUT stickers on the display!

Then I tried calling in some favors, only to get a great laugh! “Psst, yeah right!”.  Three weeks and still no luck, nada, nothing!  Will it come back in stock, who knows?  All I can say is the marketing frenzy is crazy and I know Rihanna’s camp is very, very happy!

Miss Robin Rihanna Fenty has collaborated with brands like Covergirl, Gucci and Vita Coco coconut water just to name a few. For only being seven years into the music industry, she has an empire.  Lately the racy controversial video, the MAC makeup line, Twitter fights on whose relevant (she’s global for those who may forget) and her new reality series on Bravo, Styled to Rock beginning this Friday!

What is the series all about?  Styled to Rock will feature RihannaPharell and many other celebrity guests which give aspiring designers a chance to style an outfit for one or more musical acts each week. The contestants are fighting for a $100,000 dollar cash prize, a fashion feature in Glamour magazine and the once-in-a-lifetime chance to become the next member of Rihanna’s style team!! 🙂

The concept is the same as other reality shows where the opportunity to have an unknown talent show their work.  It’s important and I always say you won’t know, unless you try!

I know a lot of you are into fashion, makeup and hair.  Who isn’t, I am too!  I also am into set design, props, lights and cameras!  So I will be looking at EVERYTHING to get ideas, marvel at the work in front and behind the scenes. More importantly to see who we may think of as just ordinary people, really do marvel.

I digressed!  Back to the MAC line!  I’m still looking for a MAC restock !  RiRi Woo! Helpppppp!  I heard through the grapevine that a Holiday collection is on its way! I just need one lipstick under my Umbrella, brella, brella! LOL ! 🙂

Here is an unusual beautiful result of the photo shot I took of a MAC billboard advertising the RiRi cosmetic line!

Architectural Digest Celebrates AD <3 New York Design Center!

27 Jun

This year at the New York Design Center was quite special! Architectural Digest and their Editor in Chief Margaret Russell gave a warm, warm welcome to all interested in design!

To celebrate at the NYDC with what they believe are great finds! I will follow the beautiful Ms. Russell anywhere, for her signature is so clear!

Since being with Architectural Digest; I definitely see a difference in the style and content of the magazine! You can just tell, more celebrities are opened to featuring their homes and the creativity is shown on its pages, with ideas that regular people are truly interested in!

So when arriving at the New York Design Center on Lexington Ave last Thursday, there was such a buzz in the air; I could n’t wait to explore the four floors of showroom bliss!

The showrooms were full of people, all scoring a spot near a bar to receive the signature drink of the night and talk about all the one of a kind of pieces; unique textiles, tapestries and how home furnishings keep on envolving. Beautiful pieces! I placed a few pics below of my favorites!

Even Twitter was involved, where the guests were asked to tweet their favorite #ADLOVESNYDC pick and tweet it right there! Although I made the mistake and tweeted (is that a word) a slipper chair I’d fell in love with, not one of AD’s picks!

It didn’t even matter, because the excitement of the feedback was amazing! Some people were tweeting for the first time in their life, which was actually quite funny…”Is it on my phone? Oh, I have to download the app!” The showroom staffers sure did not reckon on that they would be giving Twitter tutorials on how to be a certified tweeter!!!!!!!

The night was quite enjoyable and I’d got the feedback that others also had a good time too! All rejuvenated with great ideas and finds!

Mary Alice Stephenson’s Glam4Good and How to Land A Job in Fashion!!!!

2 Jun

Spreading the news!

Mary Alice Stephenson! This beautiful lady is a  great Mom to her handsome son, Willem!  Consults for fashion designers, a stylist and beauty expert in her own right!

Can be seen on many TV shows giving her so important fashion advice, clearly proven from her over 250K Facebook following alone! So there!

But Mary Alice Stephenson’s GREATEST passion is turning the Glam4Good movement into a non-profit foundation and a brand. When you hear her talk about it; you can see the love in her face! Glam4Good changes lives!

Whether it’s taking woman affected by Hurricane Sandy for a few hours and pampering them with love! High school teenagers with full and over the top glam moments to fulfill their prom dreams! Even a woman who has beaten the battle of drug addiction and putting her in a beautiful Prabal Gurung gown to simply say, look at me today! These gestures are so huge, life changing and spiritual for most. Glam4Good takes the time to transform through fashion; with the help from volunteers, stylists and makeup artists..all giving their time to make magic! I get so memorized by the work being done; it’s AMAZING!

Did You Know Your Blog is an Asset? Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIN…too!

30 Apr

spotlight - social

Have you ever thought about whatever happens to a personal e-mail, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr or other online accounts?

Hmmm, I did too not give it much thought about it – until the other day when trying to change all my passwords (I do it every 60 days); it occurred to me.

Thinking, my  blog legacy must go on! <smiling!>  So I did some research and found out some information about this digital world we live in!

Did you know that “digital wills” and “digital estates” are emerging as hot topics as we become more vested in the online world.  Digital will?

Well actually it’s not necessary to draw up a separate digital will.   Simply adding your digital assets (with user names and passwords) to a standard will should be enough.  All your digital information is an asset!  Either way, going without a plan for these assets is a bad idea.  Especially if you have a blog and it’s brings in income, you are journalist with your own blog – or – you just want to protect the information, etc!

Below are examples of what some of the more popular e-mail and social networking sites do with your accounts:

Google (includes YouTube, Google+, Blogger and other Google properties): Through the account settings, users can set a timeout period of three to 12 months for their account and instruct Google to notify and/or share data with friends and family or delete all information if the account becomes inactive. Google will try to contact the user via a secondary e-mail address and/or text message before shutting the account. If no answer is received, Google will follow through with the customer’s wishes.

Hotmail: Microsoft has a “next of kin” process which allows for the release of Hotmail’s content, including e-mails, attachments, address book and Messenger contacts. The account contents are sent via a data DVD. They won’t provide access to the account or transfer it to another name.

Facebook: Relatives can request that Facebook memorialize the deceased person’s page. Only those “friended” by the person while he or she was alive may leave memorial posts on the page. The account is otherwise locked down. You can also shut down the page altogether by providing Facebook with a death certificate. For Facebook’s Instagram service, a next of kin would need to send an email request to the company to get the ball rolling.

LinkedIn: Next of kin can either close the account or memorialize it.

Twitter: Accounts that have been inactive for two years are shut down. Next of kin can contact Twitter to deactivate the account sooner. It will not provide log-in information.

Yahoo!: This includes photo-sharing site Flickr. Once a death certificate is provided to the company, the deceased’s account will be completely shut down and all content will be permanently deleted.

iTunes and Kindle e-books: The content in your Apple iTunes library and the e-books in your Amazon Kindle account are nontransferable since you pay for a license to use the content. In addition to providing loved ones with your login details, you can try converting some of the content to Digital Rights Management (DRM)-free formats while you’re still alive.

Website URLs and personal blogs: URLs that are registered to you are true assets and are transferable, as is your blog.

You can also set up an Administrator, other than yourself for some of your accounts – just in case you are unable to access them.  Also, check the account Manager sections, to see if there are any specific settings you can include.  Google has just recently added a feature!

It is always good to take a moment to think about a “what if?”.   I hope this information is helpful!

Have you ever seen something and you had to have it!

Others may say what’s the big deal…but to you; it’s a must!    For me…it was a MUST!  GOT TO HAVE IT!

I’ve waited over one month and three days and 6 hrs. on back order for this item.  For I was not  the only one who loved it!   I’d opened the box and said “Awhhhhh”!

It’s not too fancy, a conversation piece and it looks great in your kitchen’s window sill.   West Elm has the coolest and not your so typical items.  It’s the little things that can make us happy, for me anyway!  🙂
