Rolling Stone’s Loving Cup on the Wall Everyday! Design by Muriel Brandolini

17 Nov

You ever had a song ; you just love?  You wouldn’t care; if it played everday!  How about putting the lyrics on the wall, instead of playing it in your head?  See, I got you thinking about what your favorite song is?

Well interior designer, Muriel Brandolini did just that for one of her clients.  The song?  “Loving Cup” by the Rolling Stones.  It’s like giving them a tribute every single day in their Manhattan apartment she transformed.   I thought it was so cool!  This takes stenciling to another level!

So, if you have the opportunity to select a wall in your house to display a song’s lyrics, which song would you pick!  It would be great to display in an entrance way!   It was hard for me to pick just one, I have so many favorites.  The final decision would be Sting’s “Beneath a Desert Moon”!

How would you go about doing this!  Well it’s a lot of work; but so fun!   Begin by picking your favorite verse of the song or  use the chorus.  You would need stencils for the alphabet (capital and small letters) and then decide how you want the lyrics displayed.  All can brought at your local craft store.

“With just the moon to guide us
We sometimes lose our way
If there’s a light inside us
We’ll follow it to the brightness of the day”

Whether you would want it to be one paint color or different colors for the lettering; you decide and then select the base color for the wall; go to your nearby paint store for this.

A ladder, plenty of pencils, laser leveler  and some patience!   Using your leveler, draw each line needed.  Once done, using the stencil you can begin.  It would be easier to tape the each letter stencil to complete the lyric!  If you want the words to be spuratic, then choose your pattern.

Hold the stencil flat against the wall.  If you have linseed oil, before starting wipe the stencil side facing you so it is easily to pull off after you have finished painting.

Keep the linseed oil side facing you and not the wall. You can paint or sponge your paint into the open area of your design.  As you move to the next spot align your edge of the stencil with the end of the painted pattern and continue.

Continue stenciling until all of the colors in the design have been completed. Let the paint dry thoroughly before you remove the stencil from the wall. If necessary, move the stencil onto the next area of the wall. Continue until the entire wall is complete!  🙂

Sting and Trudie Styler – Harper’s Bazaar

12 Jan

My readers know how much, I’m a CERTIFIED fan of Sting!  So why, wouldn’t I let you know about the love of his life! Huh? Harper Bazaar’s latest issue tells you about their special relationship.  Why Sting and Trudie, I’m talking about!  Here’s an excerpt:

While Sting and Styler have been together a record amount of time in celebrity years–they were married in 1992–weeks can go by when they don’t see each other. “It’s important to have frank discussions about what the other wants,” Styler says. “To be in a relationship that is like a little lifetime, that’s a challenge.”

Sting has spent his storied career touring the world, currently on the last leg of his Symphonicity tour, where he performs his hits with a full orchestra. Styler has produced a number of films and documentaries but is now returning to her first love, acting. She says, “It’s exciting. I’ve said, ‘Okay, producing: back burner. Actor and director: front.”

And by the way, when he heads to the States this year, I will be sure to bring you that information too!  I am looking forward to seeing him on tour!   In the meantime, I’ll be looking at this Harper’s Bazaar February issue,  reading about their SEXY <I mean SEXY> love affair they share with one another!  They’ve been together for over 30 years!

If you want to enjoy a flashback, look back to my Summer of 2010, see A Day with Sting!  Ahh! memories <giggle!>. Even if you may not be a Sting fan, if  you have a FAVORITE artist and you consider yourself a true fan, then you can relate and know why I get so excited!  Well let me go back to reading!!

A Day with Sting!

Sting

Before I forget again and go on to something else, I wanted to share with you quickly my experience (where I am still on a high) seeing Mr. Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner perform last week! “Who, you say?” (in an english accent) Sting!

The CBS Early Show has their live Summer Concert series every year and who was on the plaza performing, but STING himself.   Not only was he performing but he had the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with him!  Taking his famous songs and revamping them once again to bring a delight of creativity and happiness.   The last time I saw  him (yes, I am a FAN!) was at NYC St. John’s Cathedral church in December ’09 and before that in London!  However, this engagement was quite wonderful; it was outside and I was so in the moment!

It’s ironic how a group of people in one setting all have the admiration of the same thing!  I was singing along (not very good), but I knew every word, every bridge in each song.  I could have been part of the ensemble, just in case they needed a stand-in!  NOT!!!!

Did you know Sting is a “New Yorker”, he has a home in NYC; brought back in 2006 and often is in Central Park….in case you thought you saw someone who may have looked like him and you mistakenly said “Naaaah, it can’t be”!   It probably was.  Now for those of you who say you must have some money to see a good concert, I say think again for the six song performance was worth every minute of the wait to see him, for it was hosted by CBS Early Show at no charge.  Even if you could not get close to the stage (like me), you had his music in the backdrop loud and clear.  It was beautiful.  And of course, he’s gorgeous!  Not bad for 58!

Can you tell that I’m a fan!  When looking at the video attached, please don’t mind my singing (I was having a good time)!  The rendition of Roxanne is simply beautiful.    His new CD,  Symphonocities has just been released and you can check out his tour dates on www.sting.com.    I  will be sure to put up the other videos of the performance, but I wanted to share this quickly, for I would not have time to upload them and have Chaz to edit them this weekend!

Did I say I had a good time!   Yeah, I did! 🙂
