BBC America’s Luther – Season 3! Anxiously Awaiting!

2 May

Idris Elba as John Luther, BBC America Luther 3 mini-series

OK, it’s time already!!!!  I’m having a Luther withdrawal!!   See I am a certified fan!  This is the time where I get all giddy about Luther.  Fans already know, but this post is about for those who are not that “hip” about Luther, played by Idris Elba.

Early January, BBC America had announced that it will co-produce yet another series!  The third installment of Luther,  a Golden Globe was awarded to Idris Elba for his role.

This time it will be a four-part miniseries set to premiere as part of BBC America’s Dramaville.  I don’t know the  airdate yet; but as soon as I find out… I will definitely share!

Elba will display his role as the unethical, but brilliant detective and his team:  Warren Brown (DS Justin Ripley), Dermot Crowley (DSU Martin Schenk) Nikki Amuka-Bird (DS Erin Gray), and Michael Smiley (Benny Silver) will be right there, partaking in the mayhem.

I remember when Luther first aired, it was stated it would not last; in fear of cancellation..dumped.  Due to the fan base and the rippling story writing, it was not long it was global talk.  Before you could blink an eye, talks were about would there be a 2nd installment and here we ALL are awaiting the 3rd installment impatiently.  At least I am!!!

Now I am one of the people who loves a mystery, here in the States I am always watching the PBS’s for any detective series airing.  I can see the  John Luther character also quickly becoming one of their detective staples.  This would be only well after BBC America has decided to syndicate the entire Luther series!

So don’t forget, BBC America’s new Dramaville franchise, it is said to become the home for groundbreaking British drama.  So cheers to Neil Cross, a brilliant, brilliant writer.  The executive producer Phillippa Giles for the upcoming 4th installment of Luther again in a four-part mini-series. Idris Elba will be co-producing the series too!

Congratulations once again on Elba’s 2011 Golden Globe award and Emmy nomination in 2011 , plus his second consecutive NAACP Image Award nomination for his John Luther performance.  He has come a long way from ‘The Wire”, wishing him and his other cast members much success!

So what am I going to do while waiting for the series to begin.  I going to plan a Luther fest at my house to watch Luther’s first and second series again.   Then will I’ll  be really ready for the 3rd series to begin!   Neil Cross…..I can’t wait to find out the storylines!

BBC’s Luther 2nd Season – Idris Elba

Luther (TV series)

Here’s my response to the many e-mails I received on Luther, do I know?

Yes,  Yes….there’s going to be a second season!

BBC did announce Luther second series will be airing in the Spring!.  It will broadcast as two two-hour long specials, on BBC One; no dates published yet.  They just finished filming.

It’s so hard to believe when Luther originally aired in the UK, the ratings were said to be decreasing during the series. The series was up against such shows as against ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent and Coronation Street; which played a major reason.

I must admit, the fans who created such a stir frenzy that the series was definitely a must see; surely proved that by having such positive feedback of the series was the catalyst of BBC One’s decision to allow the series to be included in the line-up of many cable networks!

And even when it could n’t get any better, Idris Elba received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television.   Although the Golden Globe award went to Al Pacino, You Don’t Know Jack; the nomination clearly shows the decision to continue the series was definitely a good choice!

Many of you have asked, who is my favorite character?  Of course, Idris Elba who plays John Luther!  Then there’s Ruth Wilson, who plays Alice.  My favorite quote by her?  ” I did it for YOUUUU”!  Her acting, well let’s say..so believable!

With Neil Cross’s writing, the Luther cast and our love for knowing what’s going on across the pond, I believe we all are anxiously waiting for “What’s next?”.  The acting is so superb and drama to the highest!  I’m wondering, are you wondering?

If you are on Facebook and haven’t done so already, you can join the page name Luther, join the Discussions tab to be part of all the buzz with people around the world, all waiting and telling what they liked about the series!  And I’m sure, also the second series when it begins airing in a few months!  Everyone is sooooo bloody happy!

See! Once again, I didn’t give too much away, for those who have n’t seen it (see my first commentary).  It’s now on DVD, so it’s not too late to catch up!

So everyone, let’s get ready!

Letia 😉
