Kids… It’s The Start of the Holidays! We are visiting……

25 Nov

It’s that time of the year again!  Time to visit, have dinner, share gifts and catching up!   This is when YOUR children are told to be on their best behavior!  This is where you try to get out of your mind; that you know your kids are absolutely crazy and how dare you let them out of their world; into the crazy world of having Thanksgiving dinner with other people!  The ones that don’t live with you, but they have asked throughout the year – “How’s things going?”

The truth is it’s chaotic!  Your busy with the day to day stuff; that you can’t do everything – even though you think you are Super Mom or Super Dad!  So the Thanksgiving Holiday is finally here and you now have keep your  word on the dish you said you’ll bring and start prepping…your children!   “Guys lets set some guidelines for dinner!”

“Be respectful, say PLEASE and say that little thing like Thank You…..a lot! And no fighting!!!”  You are hoping by the time you reach your destination, that your military tactic of running the guidelines will some how stick!  Only to remind yourself that these are little people and it’s probably going to be a bust within 20 minutes of your arrival; maybe 10 minutes!

Then you also decide perhaps to give yourself a mental pep talk! Yes, you will be saying “Sorry” more than often that not, demand time outs throughout the entire day and hope your little prayers are answered for that favorite inappropriate word that you giggle about at home………… isn’t said! 🙂

Nevertheless, you are going to have a good time and it’s about family, friends, family and all the food you like!  For those next visits…….I have a little help for you!Delia Ephron, Author

You remember the book “The Sisters of Travelling Pants”, written by the beautiful Delia Ephron?

Well here’s another great book she has written called “Do I Have to Say Hello?  Aunt Delia’s Manners Quiz for Kids and Their Grown Ups”

It has a quiz for you and your children, just to see what things to brush up on when venturing out amongst the world!

This delightful book shares her encounters with her nephew shown with funny illustration depictions by the famous Edward Koren; cartoonist for The New Yorker magazine.

The book doves into many scenarios; such as bubble gum, a bathroom wait, the playground and how to handle that horrible thing on a dinner plate!

The book is so much fun and can be easily shared with children.  It’s doesn’t feel like a lesson; giving you a resource to have some really good results! You may find this may also be good for some grownups as well <you probably are thinking of a few people, right now!>.

Well I have to head back to the kitchen! Wishing everyone the best during the holidays!  Happy Thanksgiving!! Enjoy!!!!

Moms Moguls Breakfast – Helping Kelly Rutherford Get Her Children Back!

10 May

Being supportive is a very important thing! So let’s take a common denominator, being a mother!  Mothers will help in PTA meetings, making cupcakes to raise money for a charity, learn ice skating although terrified because their little one shows interest.  Mothers multi-task and often than not say no to the many things that our children may need and somehow figure out a way to give them the absolute best.  And while all that is going, still find the opportunity to think about doing things to keep her identity as a woman –  to feel normal.  With all that; support is needed!

So to get just that and to be rejuvenated; I attend yearly the DivaMom’s Moms Mogul Breakfast.  This year’s breakfast was hosted by  DivaMom’s founder; Lyss Stern and Veronica Webb Del Gatto; held at URBO NYC restaurant.  The breakfast is where women gather to get:

  • Encouragement
  • Support
  • Be inspired
  • Speak with exceptional and professional women that give advice on everything to find out if you are a AM or PM person to the crazy idea that you can really and truly find time to start your own business.

In it’s 3rd year; this Moms Mogul Breakfast was very different! All present were asked to give one of the panelists some support this time! There is power in numbers and more so when you can connect!

Let’s say the support needed is to help sign a petition to the Obama Administration under We The People @whitehouse.gov to return Kelly Rutherford’s children back to the United States!   Please do not think this is oh just some Hollywood news, this is not!!!

It has to do with the legal system that has failed her!  It’s about how you as a mother can have your US born children taken from you during a divorce; where the immigration laws set are being twisted and taken out of context.

Then on top of that, your ex-husband is also attempting to foster internationally undermining ways to have you as a mother to have no parental rights….stripped!  This occurs more often than you think.  It has happened also to fathers where a non-US citizen mother has also taken children out of the USA in a custody battle too!  Unfortunately we don’t hear about it, it doesn’t make the news as in this case.

Kelly Rutherford has been enduring her battle for the last six years and it’s so emotional! She is seeking a federal order to allow her young children, who were ordered by a judge to live in France with her ex-husband, to move back to the U.S..

“The children’s appointed counsel said they should remain in the U.S., but the judge sent the children to France solely because the father claimed he could not return to the U.S., even though NO evidence has been produced from any American official stating that the father was EVER denied entry into the U.S.,” the petition states.

During the #MomMogulsBreakfast, I too made a commitment to Kelly.  Keeping a promise to help in any way that I could to help her bring her beautiful children back.  If it’s a trip to Washington D.C.; then it’s a trip to Washington D.C..  However, for now in order to have the Obama Administration to review this case, a petition has been started.  You don’t have to be a mother or father, but just someone who understands that being part of a solution is to protect our children and parental rights.  Bringing attention to it is key – the petition requires a total of 100,000 virtual signatures by May 28th to help Kelly.  Click here to sign.*    Wonderful Update: 05/26/2015Kelly Rutherford Custody Battle WIN!

* Please do perform the email verification to make sure your virtual signature is verified (it is very important).

For more information please watch the ET’s interview held during the Moms Moguls Breakfast by ET entertainment correspondent; Nischelle Turner.

Nearing the end of day, please know Kelly you have been in my thoughts and prayers throughout this Mother’s Day.  ❤

2013 Divalysscious Moms Halloween Spooktacular!!!

31 Oct

The Dynamic Duo - Batman and Robin (there twins!)

Where can you go to see Batman and Robin, ballerinas and even little Red Robin Hood; where they smiles would melt your heart away? At a  Halloween Spooktacular!

Lyss Stern, Founder and President of Divalysscious Moms and her staff every year hold a terrific Divalysscious Moms Halloween Spooktacular party!

Lyss Stern, Divalysscious Moms

A party where Moms can come for a couple of hours and have their adorable children just be children and have FUN!

This year marks her 10th year and the spooky event  was held at Dylan’s Candy Bar in NYC on 60th street!

If you haven’t been at Dylan’s Candy Store, as soon as you enter you are completely mesmerized by all the candy everywhere!

I was so amazed, so I know the children attending the party were definitely extra excited. The party was being held upstairs and by the time I hit the last stair – you could hear the live entertainment and children just laughing with joy!

The live entertainment, The Little Maestros played happy tunes and even a parent’s favorite “Ghostbusters!” You know the song! “Who you gonna call?, Ghostbusters!” by Ray Parker Jr.!

There was coloring, raffle prizes, candy, trick-or-treat bags and a light food menu available for all. The children were dancing, jumping and singing; some were even crying…just for a moment!  Famed photographer, Heidi Green was also there; capturing beautiful photos of the entire event to be made readily available for those interested.

You just couldn’t help smiling, for it was a happy time!  The time went by so quickly!  Although my family couldn’t attend the party, the pictures taken will make them definitely smile with envy!

I so love what Lyss Stern is doing! Not only is she giving Moms the opportunity to have a network to not only talk about their children, but also a way to also pay attention to themselves.  Moms are in charge of so many things, so it’s so wonderful to have a network to go to for ideas, support and fun; all while still aiming to be FABULYSS!  THANK YOU LYSS!!!

Leaving the event, I parted with a wonderful goody bag which included Robeez shoes, HelloFresh and fun Mom stuff! As if that were not enough, I also did buy some more candy (I couldn’t resist) for I knew the trick-or-treaters that would be ringing my bell!

Oh boy, as I am writing this…Manolo is barking, the door bell is ringing…it starting!  Happy Halloween everyone!  Enjoy!
