Cynthia Bailey

I started the year with this lovely woman and I’m ending the year with her; simply love and admire her!

Cynthia Bailey!

Not for her beauty alone; she’s so, so, much more!   A beautiful woman who has brains!  A wife, a mother and a business woman – her tenacity has brought her to this point in her life to celebrate how hard she’s worked; by ending with an exciting and wonderful year!

We often hear about other publicized supermodel accomplishments – however there are others who are just as important!   And yes, Cynthia…. she is a SUPER MODEL!   And so relatable!

A Piscean just as I, she is driven and totally clear on her goals!  Busy to say the least, loving wife and mother continually being sort out for photo shoots, part of the Real Housewives of Atlanta‘s franchise;  her willingness to share for others coming after her is so commendable.

The Bailey Agency School of Fashion is going strong! With her vision, through her agency, successfully performed a model search where the winner, Nissa landed a contract with Click Models!

I will be travelling to Atlanta, GA in a couple of months and will be stopping by.   It’s a new year coming, where new ideas and new beginnings will be part of another young woman’s or man’s life at the agency!

Sometimes you do have to stick your neck out in an effort to make a positive change for yourself.  The most important factor in figuring it all out, on just what to do; then make that step!!

You’ll never know will you? If by chance there’s someone around that may give you advice… take it and listen! Whatever you are interested in!

As always, wishing you the best to you and your family for the new year!

Chiboust Bistro & Wine Bar, Six Degrees of Separation – All in Tarrytown Westchester County, NY!!

29 Dec

chiboustSix degrees of separation is the idea that everyone is approximately six or fewer steps away, by way of introduction, from any other person in the world, so that a chain of “a friend of a friend” statements can be made, on average, to connect any two people in six steps. It was originally set out by Frigyes Karinthy and popularized by a play written by John Guare.

Crème Chiboust is a crème pâtissière (pastry cream) lightened with stiffly beaten egg whites. Occasionally using whipped cream to lighten; known as a traditionally a millefeuille cream.  Crème Chiboust can be flavoured with vanilla, orange zest, or liqueurs. Mixed with fruit, it becomes crème plombières.

Friends are about friendships and acquaintanceships with the thought of spanning across the same continuum.

Now we are all so busy and find it hard to connect throughout the year.  Yes we may e-mail, use social media quickly to say thinking of you and maybe even  give a text or two!  However during the Holiday season, it’s the time from the beginning of December until we bring in the New Year, we DO take the time to laugh, smile and catch-up with one another.

So here I am looking forward to attending Holiday parties and for one particular party I’m never disappointed at all, where the hosts, very good friends of mine have a spread of food, wine and desserts that will have you not paying attenion to the person you are talking too!  Only to excuse yourself and go back to taste some more!  This is what food does; it’s a great catalyst in helping you to meet new people; whether it’s the first time or just making it easier to engage to enjoy!

While mingling, I had the wonderful opportunity of meeting this lovely woman named Jill Rose for the first time!  Simply marvelling on her contribution to the food spread, her pâté <to die for> and her pleasing response to the many types of desserts while eating.  She’d mentioned modestly that she was a restaurant owner; named Chiboust!

A kind invitation was extended to her restaurant and there we were both off in different directions; continuing to mingle with the other party guests.  This year, Christmas fell on a Wednesday for the work schedule for many did not stop for the next day. So I graciously kissed my dear friends good-bye who were the hosts; letting them know I had a ball and wished them the best for the New Year!

A day passed, where I’d received Facebook messages, e-mails and phone messages (this is always the case, get Letia Operation 1 on 1) from another set of great friends whom live in Tarrytown, NY.  Calling to see what I would be doing that evening – for they wanted me to be part of an exciting Tapas and Wine Tasting gathering of ten!  Wine, catch-up with my friends, food….I’m in; #1 certified foodie!   “Where is it going to be held?” “Oh it’s going to be right here in town, the restaurant is named Chiboust!!!!

Unfrigginbelivable (its a word)!  I said, I just met the owner, Jill Rose the other night!!!  I know it sounds cliché, but IT IS a small, small, small world!

Shall we talk about Jill Rose! 🙂

When you first meet Jill, you notice almost immediately her warm and kind demeanor.  All of my friends speak of her in such admiration; for her dedication to her establishment, exceptional cuisine creations and commitment to the community. Since 2004, Jill has been the proud restaurant owner of Chiboust Bistro and Wine Bar; which is located in the quaint Westchester, NY town of Tarrytown.  The French Mediterranean restaurant’s location is right across the street from the famous theatre called the Tarrytown Music Hall.

Jill is a graduate of the  Culinary Institute of America (CIA); plus an award-winning pastry chef!!!  Everyone at the gathering, all indicated that her desserts are out of this world. … this was kept from me, is beyond me!!   If her desserts are her passion, let’s say Jill’s love of food was expressed in every dish brought to us to feast on that evening!

Let’s begin, the restaurant has a soft ambience, the exposed brick walls give a worldly look, while the color hues are very warm and inviting.  The seating is gracious, where you don’t feel crowded; where the background music’s volume is soft and enjoyable.

The evening started with a wide variety of appetizers, or snacks provided; all gearing towards to a Spanish cuisine of pure happiness!

To name a few….warmed spiced olives placed among the guests, then plates of  superbly fried corn fritters on a bed of arugula with a spicy aioli sauce followed by a tasty balsamic glaze over a pear roasted in honey and wrapped in prosciutto.  Oh! How about the dates wrapped in bacon, where the sugar from the date gave such an pleasant aroma – that you wanted to perhaps say bottle up to take with you! <YES, I was paying so much attention>.

There was grilled octopus so tender that, one of the guests said…”I never had this, wouldn’t never have try this and why is this so damn good?!”  There were assorted cheeses, beautiful selections of wine, red grapes and these delicate lamb meatballs in this intensifying flavored reduction sauce that left me wanting more!

Spanish Paella, Chiboust Bistro & Wine Bar

All gearing  up to the “plat de résistance”…… the Paella!  A superb robust flavored dish with chorizo sausage, chicken, rice which had the texture of risotto and just enough of peppery heat to give your lips a slight tingle!  It was so, so good! The hmm’s amongst all of us was almost like singing a song!  🙂

What an evening!!! We all intend to make plans to return to Chiboust!  Jill and her staff were quite wonderful and everyone was so very, very pleased.

Sandy Hook Elementary School, Newton Conn. Tragedy* – Condolences and Prayers

15 Dec

Liturgy for the families and community of Newton, CT

There is the sound of a siren in the distance that has made me awaken from my sleep this Saturday morning at 7 AM.  This morning I have awoken thinking for some reason what has happened is a dream?  Normally I would think it’s just an ambulance rushing to help someone who is sick or a mother now in labor.  For here in Danbury where I live, two towns over from Newton which is also a close-knit town!  Yet, this morning this is not what I am thinking!

I am still shaken of the aftermath of the horrific tragedy in Newton; everyone is!

How yesterday, everyone was in a daze and in tears trying to comprehend what has happened. How I-84 East is usually a traffic nightmare coming home, but yet it was different – there was no rushing, because the town of Newton, Conn. was being passed.  How I was calling each of my friend’s families trying to find out were their children all right, because their children did go to Newton for schooling, however not at the Sandy Hook Elementary school!  How this time of year is the best time for the children and we lost them all from a senseless act!  I am thinking how in the world possibly are these parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, sisters, brothers, cousins and friends going to make it! How?

School is no longer a safe haven and here parents with their children really have to think differently.  We have to endure bullying in the back of our mind and now this.  This!  It’s so sad how we must adapt, but it looks like we have absolutely no choice.

The country needs gun control and it should be a topic.  There is no reason why a suburban teacher would need the type of guns (3) she had licensed, maybe one and definitely not an automatic rifle!  With the mere fact; the killer had even more than originally reported  …is simply OUTRAGEOUS!  And second if you know your son has mental issues – where he has threaten his family and people outwardly; then it’s the parent’s responsibility to make sure society is safe by getting help and placing the child in a place where he is no harm to himself and to anyone.

And  lastly – parents please have some courage!!!  Have the courage to speak up; if something does not seem right…SPEAK UP and call the authorities.

I commend the mother who reported her son three weeks ago to police after he amassed what she feared were weapons (he purchased two assault rifles and 400 rounds of ammunition) to attack a southwest Missouri movie theater during a “Twilight” showing, something wrong when said he had recently asked her if he was a failure.

We as parents are here to protect our children and so want them to do well – however we also have the responsibility too to also protect others! Accept the fact that there is something wrong and your son/daughter is possibly a troubled threat to society!

I know it’s hard to do, but if we do this, then just maybe…..maybe we would not have a tragedy such as this……. at a elementary school where Kindergarten to 4th grade children are massacred less than two weeks before Christmas and becomes a statistic to be the nation’s second-deadliest school shooting, exceeded only by the Virginia Tech massacre in 2007!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As you, I am keeping the families and the town community in my thoughts and prayers!  Praying for comfort and strength for each day ahead!!!  God Bless those teachers, their our heroes!

A child always remembers their childhood and this should never, never be a memory.

Decorating A Christmas Tree – Your Way!

2 Dec

Same old tree but different style. Often we don’t think we can have a different way of decorating our trees this Holiday season! But we can! Each year Kimberly changes the ornaments, making it fun and more creative!

Just a basic white tree, she turned into a fashion statement! People love all sorts of things, motorcycles, hearts, bears to Disney characters! I love putting fruit (I’m going to share – I’m still decorating). Whether you have a real tree or an artificial one – it’s your tree and your style!

Kim, it’s beautiful! Be different and remember your ornament hooks! Have fun! 🙂
