Fashion’s Night Out with Kendall Jenner, Kim Kardashian’s Sister!

26 Jul

It’s going to be August, which means………..  NYC Fashion Week preparations and announcements.  So much work goes into getting ready!

So, I just received the news that Kendall Jenner will be the beautiful soiree for this year’s LA Fashion’s Night Out!  A beautiful young woman and I can’t wait to see her in action!

Kendall is not new to this, she was on the runway last year and did absolutely superb; besides she is gorgeous!   GORGEOUS!!!!!!

What’s Fashion’s Night Out?  It’s four years and going strong!

Editors, stars, models, fashionistas, fans, and designers on September 6, 2012, flood stores in cities across the country and around the world for fashion’s most iconic extravaganza.

More than 4,500 events are here in the States alone last year, featuring special limited-edition products, celebrity appearances, and unforgettable performances!

I ‘d purchased my Jimmy Choo’s at one of the FNO trunk show events last year!!  I was sooooo happy, they are a work of art!  Simply fabulous!  From what I am told, FNO 2012 is going to out do 2011’s event!

So mark the date on your calendar.   Make sure you check for updates on where an event may be held near you! FNO

Kendall will be at the Beverly Center!

Aurora, Colorado – My Thoughts

24 Jul

It has taken me a few days to process all this!

The focus should be with the families, the victims and the community!  For the last few days, I am thinking about how a staple of America, going to the movies turned into THIS!

In my opinion <my opinion>, it has nothing to do with the Batman movie.  It could have been any movie!!!!.  How many times have I just abruptly decided to go to the movies, to see a movie!

For me it ranges, from Harry Potter, Ice Age to a movie about whales in Alaska!  At each showing, there are people from all walks of life.  It may be a children’s movie, or children accompanying their parents, young people or the elderly.

There is the staff at the theatres who are working, some college students or perhaps those coming in for the day looking for a job or even people getting the matinée to receive a discount.  It may be a person who wanted popcorn and enjoyment of the free refills!

The movies represents people, ordinary people taking the time out of their busy day to enjoy!  With their families and friends. That’s ALL!

And here taking this forum of relief, one person decides to make an agenda to create pure mayhem for over 220 people!!!!!

With the intent to harm more!  #%)@&%&@) crazy and absolutely unacceptable!  I am so upset about it, because it is too close!  It could have been in my community or it could have been in yours!  It’s so sad!

I refused to write anything more about this person who caused such hysteria, fear and sadness  – is it important to know WHY? For some it maybe, for me is to now focus on the families, friends and victims whose lives have been changed!

So with that, I am going to keep praying for comfort for all affected and for those who have survived to push on!

If you are interested, you can contribute to the Aurora Relief Fund; which is being used to give any aid required by victims and their loved ones.

The Aurora Victim Relief Fund will help defray some of that expense. The full list of non-profits in the network is available at the GivingFirst.org site.

With thoughts and prayers,

Macy’s Say I Do Campaign, Wedding Gift & Registry Ideas!

14 Jul

Will you be attending a wedding soon?  June is usually the kick-off month wedding nuptials are planned; which are so exciting!

I have two weddings to attend, one this month and the other in September.  I know!  I know, I should have gotten a gift by now!

Well, I did get one and that’s on it’s way;  however I still was left this afternoon thinking about what to get for the other!

I checked the bride and groom’s on-line bridal registry on Macy’s and the items which were left; were kind of expensive.  I really want to stay in the limits of my budget!

So, while looking at the registry, I noticed there also was an area to shop, called The Wedding Shop and was very happy to see items that were affordable, some on sale and very, very nice but it was slotted for the bride’s bridal party!   For brides-to-be, it would be just great!

Still perplexed, I said let me click this, it was their gift guide!  YES!!!!  Much better, I selected the section Wedding and was pleased to see some affordable items, not too cheesy…. but nice!

With two – five clicks of my mouse, my purchased was done!   The shipping rates were reasonable and they do international.

While surfing, I got hooked on their ad campaign’s song – which was playing in the background!  I’ve placed the ad videos below to share with you, I love the couple which have a retro-vintage style!!!  You can get some great ideas for a party with some style!

Anyway, if you are late <like I am> looking for a gift, try looking at the Macy’s site as one of your options!

A Thank You, Would Be Nice?

12 Jul

Is it me or have people forgotten about acknowledging thoughtfulness?

When you receive a gift or a kind gesture is performed, I thought in return you can send a thank you card, bake cookies, shoot an e-mail or even have a discussion about it!  SOMETHING!

“Have things changed that much?”, Mrs. Parker asked me while we were at our mailboxes today.   See she says for a week now, she was expecting a note card or either a phone call.

According to her, she sent this beautiful quilt to her daughter in-law’s mother and has not heard a word yet!  She checked the shipping tracking number and it was delivered.

I told her that it was coming for sure.  In all actuality, you just don’t know; I didn’t have the heart to tell her that.  “Let’s just say, she’s really busy.”

I know people who do send thank you cards or do some kind of gesture in return, when someone takes the time to think of them!

HEY DAUGHTER IN-LAW’S MOTHER…CALL MRS PARKER!!! NOW! 🙂

Ay yi yi!!!!!

2012 Kips Bay Decorator Show House

9 Jul

Last month, the Kips Bay Decorator Show House closed on the 14th of June.  The location was different this year, at the Aldyn which is on the West side between 62 and 63rd St on Riverside Bouvelard in New York City. Gorgeous, gorgeous views!

Each year, an Opening Gala cocktail party is held to kick off the event; where the media, interior designers and decorators mingle, awaiting anxiously to see the designs!  I was so excited to be there!

Under a beautiful tent, there was music with the latest hits, cocktails, food and such a great energy in the air!  All in anticipation for the revealing of the 21st and 22nd floors; where two duplex apartments were magically transformed.  So much hard work and effort, all for a wonderful cause.  The designers were tired, however very happy their deadline was met, right down to the very second!   “It is exciting and at the same time the pressure was on.”, Jamie Drake of Drake Design Associates (he designed one of my favorite rooms)http://www.drakedesignassociates.com/

There were many sponsors for the event, remember number painting?  For charity, one of the sponsors – Benjamin Moore Paint allowed guests to select their colors and paint the corresponding color! I took the painting a little too serious though (stay in the lines!!)!    The staff was so wonderful, they even took the time to take a picture, before I headed up to see all the designs.

And oh! Emily and Elizabeth Hazelwood of Urban Vintage Cafe in Brooklyn were there and I didn’t even know it!  I guess we were destined to meet, for I’d meet them three weeks later!  It’s such a small, small, small world!

This event goes back to 1973 when several dedicated women’s committee members of the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club launched the Decorator Show House to raise funds for much-needed after school and enrichment programs for New York City children. Over the course of four decades, this project has raised in excess of $17 million and grown into a “must destination” for thousands of design enthusiasts and is recognized for launching interior design trends throughout the world. Today, the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club is one of the most prominent and responsive youth development agencies in New York City and a “flagship” of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

I had a wonderful time, a video is below to show you a few of the rooms!  See the Missoni room, it’s really nice!

Not Just Any Waffle – Julian’s Recipe Vanilla Bean Belgian Waffles!

8 Jul

You know how I am a certified foodie!  Well, I had the utmost pleasure of having Waffles!

Now you may see this brand in your supermarket’s freezer section, Julian’s Recipe™ Vanilla Belgian Waffle!  If you have’nt, TRY IT!

Using a family recipe, founded by Alexander Dzieduszycki, Creator of Alexia® Food and Terra® Chips, the brand is named after his son, Julian.

For a year, my nearby Costco Warehouse® would have this speciality package of 12 of the most divine waffles!  The recipe definitely did not skip on the ingredients, for you can definitely taste the vanilla bean, sugar; a buttery authentic tasting Belgian waffle!

Well, Costco stopped selling the speciality package and I have written the company on whether they are going to continue their promotion with the warehouse or do I have to suffer with only the 4 per box available in the supermarket!   Let me explain, I’m not eating these waffles for breakfast, I’m making my own personal dessert!!  This is what I would do, this is my recipe!

Julian's Recipe Waffles

Take the waffle and place in the toaster for about a minute and a half; to caramelize the sugar – making the waffle warm too!  Then place the waffle in a bowl, then top with – not one, but TWO scoops of vanilla bean ice cream; followed by three to four drizzles (maybe five) of Amaretto liqueur and then top it off with one sliced strawberry!!!!   YESSSSSS!  Talk about HAPPY!  Now, this is NOT an everyday treat, but one of the most comforting and pleasurable treat that you can prepare for your guests or just for YOU!

The waffles are freezable, regrettably where I am down to only six left in my freezer!  So, I decided why not share in the experience and for those who have had them, well there’s no need to comment, for I know you are happy too!

However, if anyone likes their waffles made from scratch, please share your recipe – for there are people who still love to make breakfast in the morning and would not mind at all to give it a try!  As for me, it would be a unrewarding ; perhaps uneventful task to do – so I will stick to the current method I’d mentioned!  🙂

For those who like fast and easy (me), look for them at your supermarket.  I will let you know, if the company responds to my inquiry!  In the meantime, I have attached their link for more information, recipes and where their products are being sold.  If you are a Facebook subscriber, they also have a Facebook page! http://juliansrecipe.com/

For you history buffs;  the Belgian waffles originally showcased in 1958 at Expo 58.  They had their American debut at the Century 21 Exposition in Seattle, WA in 1962. The waffles were further popularized in the United States during the 1964 New York World’s Fair at Flushing Meadows Park (Queens, NYC). The waffle was introduced by Maurice Vermersch of Brussels, Belgium.

At that time, it was named the Bel-Gem Waffle, on a simplified recipe for the Brussels waffles, Vermersch decided to change the name upon observing the poor geographical skills of Americans. The waffles were served with whipped cream and strawberries, and retailed for only a dollar.  Today, toppings vary from whipped cream, confectioners sugar, soft fruit, chocolate spread, to syrup!

Well enough already!!!  Just go try them!  🙂
